Recordings

Larry is currently working on a 22 song second album scheduled for completion in late 2016, early 2017. It's best described as old school pre-Beatles style roots rock ’n roll.

The musicians include Texas legends Augie Meyer, accordionist Joel Guzman, and fiddle player Bobby Flores and many of the Delbert McClinton musicians from his first CD. Also Robert Ellis and The Boys. Most notable is the addition of The Jordanaires backing group who are best known for their years backing Elvis Presley and Patsy Cline and later years backing George Jones.. most notably Jones' recording of "He Stopped Loving Her Today". They have sung background for over 2500 artists over the years.

Larry Sepulvado's first CD release, "Cajun Cats, Creole Dogs" was released November 6, 2009. It covers Lousiana swamp rock and cajun music that fits comfortably between the outskirts of Lafayette, Louisiana and the country dance halls of Beaumont, Texas.

Rolling Stone Magazine, Mother Magazine, The Houston Post

Larry published Mother Magazine in Houston,Texas which featured the only formal interview with The 13th Floor Elevators & showcased artwork & photography by Guy Clark, who had yet to embark on the songwriting career that led him to the country music Songwriter's Hall Of Fame in Nashville.

The three issues of Mother magazine found a resting place in The University of Texas music archives and led Larry Sepulvado to meet Jann Wenner, editor of Rolling Stone magazine, in the magazine's warehouse district offices in San Francisco.

Wenner asked Larry to write an article about Texas music which became a cover story for Rolling Stone issue #23. Texas ex-patriot Doug Sahm was on the cover. More importantly the center spread photograph led to unknown Texas albino bluesman, Johnny Winter, to sign with Columbia Records for what was then the largest record contract given a new artist. Larry left behind his rock 'n roll writing career after one year as the music editor for the now defunct Houston Post daily newspaper.

Gram Parsons - Sin City

While managing a record store for a national retail chain Larry's staff shared his love of country music in particular, Gram Parsons, the recognized father of country-rock. Parsons toured with Emmylou Harris to promote the release of his "GP" album, Clayton Gaskill, who created a Sin CIty biker-style patch & equipped the record store staff with Sin City jackets. The group descended on Liberty Hall, a small local venue for national touring acts, where Gram & Emmylou played 6 shows in 4 days. A more detailed account of the weekend can be found at the following link where the Sin Patch is available for purchase:

Briefly, the Sin City boys gave Emmylou Harris, Gram Parsons, and Linda Ronstadt  (who came to Liberty Hall after opening for Neil Young at a larger venue) Sin CIty jackets. It was the first time Emmylou and LInda Ronstadt had met and the first song they ever sang together was "Sin City", a Flying Burrito Brothers song that Parsons worked up specifically for the Sin City Boys on Saturday night.

Later that year Gram Parsons died & his road manager, Phil Kaufman (wearing his Sin City jacket), stole Gram's body from the L.A. airport where it was being flown to New Orleans, for burial. Kaufman burned Parson's body with Gram's Sin City jacket in Joshua Tree National Park. A movie made in 2003, "Gram Theft Parsons", recounted the incident with Johnny Knoxville wearing Kaufman's original Sin City jacket throughout the movie.
